Lexington Catholic Wins State Baseball Championship

Frank Carter pitched a seven innings of five-hit baseball and collected the go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning as Lexington Catholic beat Owensboro, 5-3, to claim the state championship.

After allowing two first inning runs, Carter came to the plate with two out and the bases loaded in the fifth. He proceeded to line a clean base hit to right field, scoring two runs, as Lexington Catholic took the 3-2 lead.

Carter earned tournament MVP honors as the Knights won their second state championship in four years and the team's third in the last nine seasons. Coach Kevin Clary's squad finishes the year with 26-8 record.
