After more than 70 years and 412 consecutive home games, Jim Brown finally missed a University of Kentucky home football game.
Brown did not attend Saturday’s game vs. Alabama because of an illness, ending a streak that began in 1938 and had been uninterrupted since 1945.
Brown, who turned 90 years old earlier this year, began going to see the Wildcats play as a UK freshman in 1938. He has been at every home game since then, with the exception of the 1944 season, when he was a navigator/bombardier in Asia during World War II.
We are happy to report that Brown is feeling better and looking forward to returning to Commonwealth Stadium when the Cats resume home action.
