Derby Prospect Will Run in Lane's End

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - "Hard Spun" is to ship to Turfway
Park to take advantage of the Kentucky track's synthetic surface.
The colt is a top prospect for the Kentucky Derby. He will miss the
300-thousand-dollar Rebel Stakes, instead training for the
500-thousand-dollar Lane's End Stakes at Turfway.
Owner Rick Porter announced the change of plans yesterday on his
Web site.
Hard Spun finished fourth in the 250-thousand-dollar Southwest
Stakes on February 19th.
Porter said the dirt track at Oaklawn is too demanding for Hard
Spun.
After the Rebel, Oaklawn's final major Kentucky Derby prep is
the one (m) million-dollar Grade Two Arkansas Derby on April 14th.
