Louisville Rocks Stanford in Rupp

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Louisville did just fine in its odd
Kentucky home. Stanford seemed all too eager to flee back to the
West Coast.
Playing at Rupp Arena - home to archrival Kentucky - Louisville
got 16 points from both Edgar Sosa and David Padgett to rout
Stanford 78-58 Thursday in the opening round of the South Regional.
Coach Rick Pitino's press rattled Stanford, and sixth-seeded
Louisville bolted to a 41-13 lead in front of a highly partisan
crowd.
Earl Clark and Derrick Caracter each had 12 points and Jerry
Smith added 10 for Louisville (24-9), which was playing less than
80 miles from its campus.
Brook Lopez led 11th-seeded Stanford (18-13) with 18 points, but
the Cardinal did little to validate their surprise at-large
selection.
Stanford had to travel more than 2,400 miles across the country
and was playing at 9:30 a.m. PDT. The Cardinal never found its
footing against Louisville's aggressive full-court pressure that
harassed the Cardinal all game long.
