Kentucky Wins 2nd Straight, 36-13 Over UL-Monroe

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - All-around offensive threat Randall Cobb
scored two touchdowns, including a 73-yard punt return, to lead
Kentucky to a 36-13 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night.

The Warhawks (4-3) had their opportunities, but scored just two
touchdowns to show for five drives that got inside the Kentucky
20-yard line.
Cody Wells threw a touchdown pass to Luther Ambrose and Frank
Goodin had a 3-yard touchdown run for Louisiana-Monroe. Wells made
his first career start and completed 21 of 44 passes for 267 yards,
but threw three interceptions.

• Tonight’s contest was the fourth all-time meeting between the Warhawks and Wildcats. Kentucky leads the series, 3-1. ULM’s victory in the series came in the first meeting, a 21-14 victory in 1994.

• ULM is now 3-33-1 all-time against schools from the Southeastern Conference.

• Tonight’s attendance was 68,203 at Commonwealth Stadium, making it the 19th-largest crowd ever to witness at ULM football game.

• Tonight’s ULM game captains are junior quarterback Trey Revell, senior defensive back James Truxillo, senior punter Scott Love and senior linebacker Josh Thomas.

• Redshirt freshman quarterback Cody Wells made his first career start and set new career-highs in numerous passing categories including completions (21), attempts (44) and yards (267). Wells also threw his second touchdown pass of the season.

• Wells finished the contest 10-of-14 on third downs for 141 yards. Nine of Wells’ 10 third-down completions resulted in first downs.

• Senior linebacker Cardia Jackson recorded 15 total tackles in the contest, giving him a team-best 67 on the season. Jackson now also has 332 total tackles in his career, moving him into eighth in ULM history and third in Sun Belt history.

• ULM recorded two pass break ups in the contest, giving the Warhawks 36 on the season. ULM entered the game ranked fourth in the nation in pass break ups (34).

• ULM attempted a season-high 46 passes, the Warhawks previous season-high was 36 against Florida International.

• Sophomore defensive back Nate Brown intercepted a pass in the first quarter. It is the second-straight contest in which Brown has recorded an interception. Brown has two career interceptions.

• Senior defensive back Otis Stamps recorded his second interception of the season. Stamps’ interception was the second of the game for the Warhawks, marking the third-straight game the ULM defense has had multiple interceptions.

• Senior wide receiver Darrell McNeal recorded one catch for 18 yards. McNeal has recorded at least one reception in 29 consecutive games.

• Junior running back Frank Goodin’s third quarter rushing touchdown was his 19th career rushing touchdown, tying him for fourth all-time in ULM history with Joe Profit (1967-70).

• The touchdown run was also Goodin’s ninth of the season, putting him alone in fifth-place in ULM history in single-season rushing touchdowns. Goodin entered the game ranked fourth in the country in rushing touchdowns this season.

• Goodin’s rushing touchdown was the 15th of the season for ULM, the Warhawks only rushed for 15 touchdowns during the entire 2008 season. ULM entered the contest ranked 23rd in the nation in total rushing touchdowns.

• Senior linebacker Josh Thomas had his first forced fumble of the season, the fumble was recovered by senior linebacker Cardia Jackson, and it was Jackson’s second fumble recovery of the season.

• Senior wide receiver LaGregory Sapp registered ULM season-high in both receptions and receiving yardage. Sapp’s seven catches equaled the seven receptions he had against Florida Atlantic. His 121 receiving yards bettered the previous high of 108 by Darrell McNeal against FIU.
