Carter Staying at UK

Jared Carter is staying at UK. His dad, Jeff Carter, told the Georgetown News-Graphic that his son is “very adamant about finishing out at Kentucky.”

In Sunday’s edition of the News-Graphic, Carter is quoted as saying the family was shocked to hear about coach Tubby Smith leaving for Minnesota.

“I think everybody was in shock after it happened. Last time that I talked to coach Smith he told me he was there to stay," Carter said.

Jared Carter is a 7-foot-2 center and will be a redshirt sophomore next season. "He's going to stay at Kentucky," Jeff said. "He and I talked about it, and he's going to stay there.

The younger Carter missed the first five games of this past season with a dislocated shoulder. He re-injured the shoulder during practice in December and underwent season-ending surgery.

Carter played in three games, averaging 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 points.
