LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Andre Woodson was in a battle for the starting quarterback job when spring drills opened at the University of Kentucky at this time a year ago, but not this year.

Woodson is entrenched as the starter as the Wildcats opened spring drills today at the Nutter Field House. They would have practiced outside, but thunderstorms prevented it.

Last season Woodson became the only U-K quarterback other than Tim Couch to throw for more than 30 touchdowns.

Coach Rich Brooks said today he was impressed with the team's energy. He also said that starting safety Marcus McClinton should be back in camp Monday. McClinton was suspended yesterday for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
