UK Cleared to Speak with Billy Gillispie
UK has asked for and received permission to speak with Texas A&M basketball coach Billy Gillispie about the vacant Wildcat position. Gillispie led the Aggies to the finals of the NCAA South Region
In a statement tonight, A&M Athletics Director Bill Byrne said:
"COACH GILLISPIE IS ONE OF THE TOP COACHES IN THE COUNTRY AND WE CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT TO LOSE HIM. AT THE SAME TIME, I DON'T WANT TO STAND IN THE WAY OF ANY MEMBER OF MY DEPARTMENT WHO WANTS TO EXPLORE ANOTHER OPTION IF HE OR SHE FEELS THAT IS IN THEIR BEST INTEREST."
