EKU opens season Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Eastern Kentucky coach Jeff Neubauer knows
he has some pretty big shoes to fill.
The Colonels must find a way to move on after star Mike Rose's
moved on following a spectacular career. Finding a new leader is a
challenge Neubauer said won't just be for one player to take on.
The Colonels finished last season 18-13, fifth in the Ohio
Valley Conference at 10-8 and Rose was a huge part of that team.
Rose led the Colonels averaging 20.0 points per game last year
and ended his career second all-time in the program's record books
in career scoring and 3-pointers.
With 10 returning players on this season's roster, Neubauer
believes the team's depth will keep them in games.
The Colonels open the season on Saturday against West Virginia
Wesleyan.
