New UK Coach Happy with Recruiting Class

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie is all
smiles today after signing highly coveted forward Patrick
Patterson.
Gillispie said waiting for Patterson to decide where he was
going to play college ball was like being a bubble team and waiting
to find out if you made the N-C-A-A Tournament.
Gillispie spoke publicly today about the signing for the first
time. He said Patterson gives the team a potential star at a major
area of need.
Gillispie credited Patterson's family for keeping mum on which
college he would choose. Patterson chose the Cats over Florida and
Duke. Patterson said yesterday one of the big reasons he chose the
Cats is because it allows him to stay close to his hometown of
Huntington, West Virginia.
