Reds' Hamilton Begins Rehab

Tomorrow (Tuesday, May 29), Cincinnati Reds outfielder Josh Hamilton will join Class AAA Louisville on a rehabilitation assignment. He has been on the 15-day disabled list since May 22 with gastroenteritis (inflammation or infection of the gastrointestinal tract).

Hamilton, 26, was the National League Rookie of the Month for April after leading all Major League rookies in HR (6), extra-base hits (10), on-base percentage (.365) and slugging percentage (.609) while tying for the Major League rookie lead in RBI (13). When he went on the disabled list on 5/22, he led all National League rookies in HR (8) and outfield assists (3) and ranked in the Top 3 in almost every other offensive category.

Overall, in his first Major League season Hamilton is hitting .261 with 8 HR and 18 RBI in 37 appearances and 29 starts for the Reds.
