Former Harrodsburg Star Signs with CFL

RICHMOND, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University football standout Patrick Bugg recently signed a multi-year contract with the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. Rookie camp begins on Wednesday, May 30, with official training camp to start on Sunday, June 3.

Bugg, a native of Harrodsburg, Ky., led the Colonels and ranked fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in both receiving yards per game (55.5) and touchdown receptions (seven) in 2006. The two-time All-American tallied touchdown receptions in four of his final five games at Eastern Kentucky. Against Western Carolina on Sept. 16, Bugg finished with five catches for a career-best 118 yards receiving and two scores. Bugg’s final collegiate career statistics are 112 receptions for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Saskatchewan has made the CFL playoffs five straight years, including three appearances in the Western Division Finals since 2003. The Roughriders have also won two Grey Cup championships with the last coming in 1989. Saskatchewan opens its regular season on Friday, June 29, at Montreal.
