Sorg Named New MSU Baseball Coach

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) - A former Morehead State baseball player is returning to the team as the new head coach.

Thirty-four-year-old Jay Sorg replaces John Jarnagin, whose contract was not renewed after the Eagles went 16-and-36 this past season.

Sorg led Morehead to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship in 1993.

Sorg starred at third base for Morehead between 1992 and 199 and earned All-O-V-C honors following the 1994 season. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds and spent five years in their minor league system before moving into coaching. Most recently he served as bench coach for the Louisville Bats, the Reds' Class four-A affiliate.
