Kentucky Speedway Vs NASCAR Lawsuit Update

Print

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Speedway has alleged that NASCAR conspired to leave Kentucky and some other tracks out of the coveted Nextel Cup schedule despite their credentials and superior amenities.

The Sparta track, about halfway between Louisville and Cincinnati, is heading to mediation tomorrow in its antitrust case against NASCAR. Lawyers weren't saying whether the two sides are any closer to a settlement that could land the northern Kentucky track a Nextel Cup race.

US Magistrate Judge Gregory Wehrman has set a settlement conference for ten a-m eastern time in Covington, according to the court clerk's office.

NASCAR officials didn't immediately respond to requests for
comment yesterday.
