MOREHEAD, Ky -- The Sporting News college basketball writer Mike DeCourcy has named Morehead State junior center Kenneth Faried a Midseason Mid-Major All-American. DeCourcy also recently named Faried to his All-Tough team.
Regarding the Midseason All-America suggestion, DeCourcy writes:
"Why is Faried college basketball's best rebounder? Because he wants it that way. Faried chases rebounds with an attitude. He hasn't gotten 20 in a game yet, but he's come close twice (18 vs. UT Martin, 19 vs. Austin Peay). He led the Eagles to the NCAA Tournament last season."
When naming Faried to his All-Tough team, DeCourcy wrote:
" Faried is a mid-major Dennis Rodman, minus the curious fashion show. He puts up cartoonish rebounding numbers and is on course to become one of the NCAA’s modern leaders in that category."
Faried took the lead in the Division I rebounding statistics and now leads the nation with 13.2 boards per game. He has 13 double-doubles this season and was named OVC Player of the Week Monday for the third time this season.
