Reds Fire Bucky Dent As Bench Coach

The Cincinnati Reds say that Pat Kelly has
replaced bench coach Bucky Dent, who was fired with the ouster of
manager Jerry Narron.
The Reds late Sunday announced Narron's firing, naming advance
scout Pete Mackanin (mah-CAN-in) as his interim replacement. Dent
had been the bench coach for Narron the past two seasons. They were
former New York Yankee teammates and also coached together in
Texas.
Kelly had been manager of the Reds' rookie Gulf Coast League
affiliate and director of their Florida on-field operations.
He has spent 20 seasons managing in the minor leagues, and also
has been a minor-league pitching coach. He was an Atlanta Braves
scout last year.
