Zuckerman Stepping Down as Horsemen Coach

The Lexington Horsemen will be looking for a new coach once this season ends. That’s because Mike Zuckerman, who took over for Bob Sphire in 2006, will step down as coach of Lexington’s United Indoor Football team.

The Horsemen play their season finale this Saturday when Ohio Valley comes into Rupp Arena for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Zuckerman, who has coached locally, both at Henry Clay and Lafayette, led the Horsemen to a franchise-best 13-2 regular season record last year. Zuckerman’s team won the UIF Eastern Division championship and advanced to United Bowl II.

The Horsemen enter Saturday’s game at 7-7, good enough to advance to the UIF playoffs.
