Big Day For Kentucky Kids On PGA TOUR

UK grad J.B. Holmes and former PGA star David Duval thought they were on their way to a 3-way playoff but Dustin Johnson sinks a birdie putt on the 18th hole to defend his title at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

While disappointed that they didn’t win, Holmes and Teater brough home the kind of checks it takes to focus exclusively on golf when you’re out on tour. Holmes, a Campbellsville native, pocketed $545,600 for the second-place finish. Teater, of Lexington who played at Morehead State, the Nationwide Tour and then made it through qualifying school , finished tied for fifth and won $226,300 less than a month into his a full-time member of the PGA Tour.

Holmes had a final round 1-under 71 and finished at 16-under. Teater had a final round 3-under 69 and finished at minus 12. Teater moves up from 130th on the money list to 41st with just under a quarter of a million dollars earned. Holmes in the meantime, is now 6th on the tour money list with 2010 earnings of over $953,000!
