LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - It was a year ago when 26-year-old Ethan Jenkins collapsed and died from a heart condition while playing basketball at Lexington's Dirt Bowl.

Yesterday, during the annual "Super Sunday" festival, the crowd cheered as a city representative announced that center court will now be known as "Ethan Jenkins Center Court" in honor of the fallen player. First District Councilwoman Andrea James presented the proclamation honoring Jenkins during halftime of a game. A scholarship created by friends and family of Jenkins shortly after his death gave its first award to a Henry Clay graduate this spring.

Jenkins' mother, Patricia Wallace, tearfully expressed her thanks to the community.

Jenkins had played basketball since childhood, at Bryan Station and Henry Clay high schools and in the city's Dirt Bowl league. Super Sunday is an annual showcase for the Dirt Bowl basketball league.
