LITTLE ROCK (AP) - John Pelphrey's first task as Arkansas' new coach is to help the Razorbacks' seniors reach similar heights to those he reached as a player at Kentucky. As a senior, Pelphrey and teammates shook off the cloud of scandal and nearly returned to the Final Four.
Pelphrey took over at Arkansas in April after Stan Heath was fired, but this is no rebuilding project. The Razorbacks went to the NCAA tournament the last two seasons, and although they lost in the first round each time, they bring an experienced group back for 2007-08.
Arkansas has six seniors, and Pelphrey said today that experience should lead to good decision making.
