Enes Kanter, a 6-foot-9, 240 pound center, has given a verbal commitment to UK.
Kanter, who orally committed to Washington in November, visited the Cats during the last weekend of the regular season. Derryck Thornton, Kanter's coach at Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, Calif., confirmed Kanter has informed John Calipari of the decision.
ESPN.com says Kanter, who was born in Switzerland, but grew up in Turkey, is a face-up forward/center, with a tremendous skill set.
Several internet sights are reporting Kanter may have eligibilty issues, stemming from his involvement with a professional team in Europe.
Kanter is rated a 5-star center and one of the best players available for the Class of 2010.
