Cats hope win over Cornell will be 'sweet'

Two down, four to go!

The basketball wildcats gear up for the Sweet Sixteen, taking on Cornell Thursday night in Syracuse.

Fans hope the game really will be sweet, and put the Cats in the Elite Eight.

Coach Cal and his players talked about the pressure late Wednesday afternoon.

It has been chilly in upstate New York, as the east region's top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats prepare to take on Cornell in the Sweet Sixteen.

In fact, this is the Cat's 21st Sweet Sixteen appearance, but their first in five years.

Coach Calipari had his team on the court, inside the Carrier Dome, where they wrapped up practice late Wednesday afternoon.

The Cats ride into Syracuse a dominate 34-2, winning by an average of 29.5 points in their first two games against ETSU and Wake Forest.

Cornell, on the other hand, got to this point by knocking off 13th ranked Temple and 19th ranked Wisconsin, after earning an automatic bid into the dance by winning the Ivy League Championship for the third straight season.

You can't count out the big red of Cornell as they try to knock off a third straight nationally ranked opponent.

The wildcats are 100-44 in the NCAA Tournament, but 0-3 all-time in tournament games played in Syracuse.

The Cats tip off against Cornell at 9:57 PM Thursday night.
