Cats Lose Defensive Starter For Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky junior defensive end Nii Adjei
Oninku injured his knee in a weekend scrimmage and will be out for
the season, coach Rich Brooks said Monday.
An MRI exam Monday confirmed tears of the medial collateral and
anterior cruciate ligaments, the school said in a statement.
"I feel really bad for Nii Adjei because he has worked so hard
and played a lot of productive football for us," Brooks said.
Oninku played in 12 games last season, starting five, and made
12 tackles. He entered preseason practice as a starter at defensive
end.
