Lexington Cal Ripken Teams Continue Winning Ways

Lexington's 12-year old Major 60 Cal Ripken team was crowned World Series champions following their 9-6 win over Scottsdale, Ariz. last night in Van Buren, Ark.

Lexington has two other Cal Ripken teams still competing in World Series action. In the Cal Ripken 10-year old World Series at Vincennes, Ind., Southeast Lexington, representing the Ohio Valley region, fell Thursday to Elk Grove, Calif. 5-4.

It was Southeast Lexington's first loss and dropped them into the finals of the loser's bracket against Tillman's Corner, Ala. First pitch is set for 6:00 pm. The winner will advance to the Saturday's World Series championship game.

At Aberdeen, Maryland, the Lexington 12-year old Major 70 Cal Ripken team defeated Olympia, Wash. 10-1 Thurday to advance to Friday's American championship game.
