UK defensive back David Jones will miss at least two weeks of the season after undergoing emergency surgery Tuesday night.

Coach Rich Brooks said Jones was experiencing abdominal pains and heading to the hospital to get checked out when he suffered a ruptured appendix. Jones was then rushed immediately to the emergency room, where later, he underwent surgery.

Brooks said Jones could possibly miss as many as three games, depending on how quickly he recovers from surgery. Jones is currently in the hospital, where doctors are monitoring him for infections following surgery.

Jones began fall camp at wide receiver, after playing the position all of last season, but was moved to his customary defensive back position earlier this month.
