LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Professional golfer and 1967 Masters
Champion Gay Brewer has died of lung cancer. He was 75. Brewer died
today at his home.
Brewer's fiancee Alma Jo McGuire says he had been battling
cancer since October. Brewer retired from the PGA Senior Tour in
2000.
McGuire says it was easier on him and the family that it didn't
go on any longer than it did.
Lexington's Picadome Golf Course, where Brewer learned to play,
changed its name to honor him in June. McGuire says Brewer played
college golf at the University of Kentucky and was a popular player
throughout his career.
McGuire says services will be Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral
Home in Lexington.
