LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville's 2010 football season opener against the University of Kentucky on Sept. 4 in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET and be featured as an ABC telecast.
The game, which will appear locally on WHAS-TV in Louisville, is part of a three-way ABC regional telecast with UCLA at Kansas State and Connecticut at Michigan.
In addition, the Cardinals' Sept. 11 home game against Eastern Kentucky has also been set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff with WHAS-TV televising the event locally.
U of L's game against Kentucky will be the first game following an expansion of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in which the seating capacity will increase from 42,000 to more than 55,000. The expansion will feature 33 new luxury suites, more than 1,700 club seats with direct access to a 20,000-square foot loge lounge, and a spacious terrace in the south end zone which connects both sides of the stadium.
U of L trails Kentucky 9-13 in its overall series, but has won nine of 16 games since the intrastate rivalry was renewed in 1994 after a 70-year lapse. Kentucky has won the last three contests, including a 31-27 decision in Lexington last season.
