Paul Raines coached Lexington Christian to a state football championship last fall, building the program up from the very beginning.
He stepped down Monday as coach of the Eagles.
Early Monday evening raines said personal and family issues including a recent divorce led to his decision.
Calling it a difficult six months, Rains said it was time to take a season and watch his son play who will be a junior this fall at LCA.
Lexington Christian Athletic Director Brad Walls said the school appreciates what Rains has done and plans to build on what hes established.
Raines coached the Eagles for seven seasons, hes spent the last 22 years as a head coach.
Raines said he plans to continue his coaching career in the future.
