LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - After missing both exhibition games with a bruised bone in his knee, freshman point guard Andrew Harrison is expected back for Kentucky's season opener with UNC Asheville Friday night.
Coach John Calipari said freshman guard James Young is limping and did not practice Wednesday, but Andrew Harrison is good.
"When I watched the tape we're a different team, which is nice to see." Calipari said. "He still doesn't throw lobs because he hasn't practiced with us enough. He's trying to throw wrap arounds. One, they can't catch, and two, they can't finish. But that's okay. I can get that sorted out."
Senior guards Jon Hood and Jarrod Polson are looking forward to Andrew's return for the start of the season.
"He's a floor general." said Hood. "You guys will see he can play."
Polson started Monday's exhibition game with Montevallo at point guard.
"It's definitely going to be a process," said Polson. "We haven't practiced with him much, so we're still getting a feel for him and he's still getting a feel being around teammates in practice. I definitley think it's a good thing that he's back."
Kentucky and UNC Asheville tipoff at 7:00 p.m. Friday on Fox Sports South. The game will be rebroadcast at 10:00 p.m. on The CW Lexington.
