MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin is badgering opponents in its run to the Final Four.
Coach Bo Ryan's team is allowing about 56 points per game in the NCAAs, nearly eight less than before the tournament. Opponent field-goal percentage is down to 37 percent in the tourney from 43 percent.
Defense is a staple under Ryan, though the Badgers haven't always lived up this season to the program's high standards.
Now, Wisconsin has turned up the intensity. The Badgers rely on preparation, footwork and positioning. It helps to have 7-footer Frank Kaminsky near the rim and one of the Big Ten's top defenders in guard Josh Gasser.
Because of Wisconsin's philosophy, Ryan has said the team wasn't as affected by the NCAA's defensive rules emphasis this year to improve the flow of the game.
