LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky baseball team has been selected for seven national television broadcasts as part of the 2013 Southeastern Conference television schedule, it was announced by the league office on Friday.
The SEC released its second round of television selections through the ESPN/Fox Sports/Comcast Sports networks, available on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN. School and regional telecast selections remain to be announced, which will finalize the 2013 UK baseball regular-season television schedule. More than 60 additional games will be broadcast through school and regional telecasts, bringing the total number of SEC baseball games televised in 2013 to over 130.
In 2012, UK appeared on the ESPN/Fox Sports/Comcast Sports networks five times, in addition to five telecasts through the UK IMG Network.
The Wildcats will open the SEC baseball television schedule with its first two league games at Florida, with the series opener slated for 7:30 p.m. ET on CSS and the Saturday, March 16 tilt set for a 12 p.m. ET first pitch on FSN.
UK’s Saturday, March 23 game with Mississippi State at Cliff Hagan Stadium will be shifted to a 12 p.m. ET first pitch to accommodate an FSN telecast.
In a rematch of a 2012 series that saw the No. 2 Wildcats host No. 1 LSU, the series finale in Baton Rouge, La., on April 7 is set for a 1 p.m. ET first pitch on CSS.
Kentucky will make its third consecutive appearance on the ESPNU SEC Thursday Night Game of the Week, facing Ole Miss on Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The finale on Saturday, April 27 is now set for a 3:15 p.m. ET first pitch at Swayze Field and will be televised on FSN.
UK’s final television game – through the initial SEC television schedule – will be when the Wildcats host preseason No. 2 Vanderbilt on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. ET on CSS.
Kentucky opens its 2013 schedule on Feb. 15 in Spartanburg, S.C., against UNC Asheville at 12 p.m. ET at Russell C. King Field. UK is ranked a program-best No. 8 in the preseason and is coming off a school-record 45-win season.
