Baseball is in the Buchanan's blood

LEXINGTON, KY (WKYT) - Lexington Legends manager, Brian Buchanan, was drafted in the first round of the 1994 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. He played in 346 MLB games. Jill Buchanan, Brian's wife, went on to the University of Virginia, where she was a three-year starter on the lacrosse team. Jill's father is Celtics great John Havlicek! Talk about having a sports blood-line!?! However, despite their accomplishments in sports, an extra special moment will take place July 15th when the family goes to New York. That is where the Buchanan's oldest son, eight-year-old Walker, gets to showcase his baseball talent in the finals of the Scotts' Pitch, Hit & Run competition at Citi Field, prior to the MLB All-Star game!
More than 600,000 athletes in the United States went through numerous competitions to make the finals. Three girls and boys finalists, ages 7-14, will be on display for the All-Star festivities.
