Big Blue Nation reacts to new coach

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- The Big Blue Nation is buzzing, almost as loud as the RJ Corman jet new football coach, Mark Stoops flew in on.

"It's a new beginning!" said long time UK football ticket holder, Berry Bozarth. "It gives us hope and we're ready to go!"

"I think it's very exciting," said UK fan Mark Holmes. "He's made a name for himself."

Berry and Darlene Bozarth have been season ticket holders for roughly 60 years, and like many UK Fans they've felt the heartache.

"We like football in general, but with UK Football it's always been a challenge," said Bozarth. "We did not got to a game this year. Even though we had tickets, we did not go."

But now, a new era, and a new hope!

"We feel like we can begin and grow and become a significant player in the SEC," said Bozarth.

Fans cannot wait to see what Stoops can bring, after all they've been studying him for a week.

"I watched the Florida State defense and I'm very impressed," said Sheila Taulskie, season ticket holder. "I'm very excited I think it's going to bring a lot of energy."

"We need some enthusiasm back," said Holmes.

Even former players, like Dallas Owens who won an SEC title and the Peach Bowl in the 70s, joined in on the welcome party.

"Everybody in Kentucky, pulls for Kentucky, they want to see this University prosper," said Dallas Owens.

And Owens believes UK can hang banners as both a football and basketball school with the right approach.

"New staff coming in I think they can do that!" said Owens.

So welcome Coach Stoops, you've got a lot of fans ready to see what you can do!
