Cabrera goes for Triple Crown, will play in final game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Miguel Cabrera is in the Detroit Tigers' starting lineup for their regular-season finale Wednesday night in Kansas City as he closes in on baseball's first Triple Crown in 45 years.

Cabrera is hitting third and playing third base.

Cabrera began the day leading the American League in batting average at .331, home runs with 44 and RBIs with 139. The Angels' Mike Trout was seven points back in the race for the batting crown, while the Rangers' Josh Hamilton was one homer back.

Texas is playing the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday afternoon.
