Cal expects guards' game, Cauley-Stein still out

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari says he's expecting a "guards" game Tuesday night at Alabama. Kentucky will again play without 7-footer Willie Cauley-Stein who remains sidelined after undegonig a knee procedure last week.

Alabama, coming off a 50-49 win over Texas A&M Saturday is spearheaded by guards Trevor Lacey, Trevor Releford and Andrew Steele. Lacey hit a jumper in the closing seconds last weekend to beat the Aggies in Tuscaloosa. Calipari is expecting a physical test.

Kentucky won at Auburn Saturday 75-53 and before leaving for Alabama, Calipari said the effort of sophomore Kyle Wiltjer was off the chart. "He proved it last game he can do it, 'I can help on a pick-and-roll and still rush at my man.' But man does it take effort." Calipari said Wiltjer then raised his hand and had to come out. "No kidding, that's what we're trying to get from all of them."

6-10 Nerlens Noel needs to avoid foul trouble as 7-footer Willie Cauley-Stein remains home. Calipari said Cauley-Stein went through a good treadmill workout Tuesday.

Kentucky will be looking for its third straight win and its third on the road in the SEC. Alabama is going for its fourth win in a row. Both teams are 3-1 in the SEC.

Tipoff for Kentucky-Alabama will be at 9:00 p.m. on ESPN.
