LEXINGTON, KY. (WKYT) - Tennessee may be riding a three game losing streak but UK coach John Calipari expects a tough test from the Vols Tuesday night in Rupp Arena. Coming off Saturday's loss to Texas A&M, Kentucky badly needs a win on its home floor before hitting the road.
Tennessee is playing without 6-7 forward Jeronne Maymon, lost for the season with a knee injury. The Vols are 8-6 overall and have lost thier first two SEC games. Calipari is cautious. "I don't care what anybody says, whether they've lost this game or that." Tennessee is led by junior guard Jordan McRae and sophomore forward Jarnell Stokes. "McRae, ya know, can score with the best of them and Stokes inside. The other guys they've got veterans (Skylar McBee and Kenny Hall). They are a good team and it's going to be a hard challenge for these guys."
Tennessee has struggled against Kentucky having lost eight of the last nine games. But Calipari believes the Vols have plenty to play for. "Stokes says, 'we're winning in Rupp Arena, we're not losing in Rupp Arena.' How do you take on that challenge, because I would imagine he will be ready to play"
Tipoff will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN.
