West Liberty, KY (WKYT) - University of Kentucky coach John Calipari announced today plans for an alumni game in September at Rupp Arena.
Calipari, appearing at a fund raising event in West Liberty, made the announcement on Kentucky Sports Radio. Calipari said the exhibition game will take place on Sept. 15 at Rupp Arena and will feature most of the current 23 former Wildcats playing in the NBA, plus the 1996 national championship team. Calipari said there are no finalized plans and all proceeds will go to charity.
UK has announced the alumni game will tip at 2:00 p.m. at Rupp Arena. The football Wildcats host Western Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. the same night.
One of those charities is a fund to help rebuild West Liberty, the town in Eastern Kentucky devastated by a tornado on March 2. Calipari on Friday announced during the radio show that he and his wife, Ellen, were matching donations up to $25,000 for the hour from 11 a.m. to noon.

Calipari brought the NCAA championship trophy with him and promised to pose for pictures and sign autographs with the fans who turned out for the event.
