Cal says Cards play harder, do his players agree?

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari said Louisville plays harder. His players don't seem to agree. The annual Kentucky-Louisville battle is set for Saturday in Rupp Arena.

"Let me tell you the one thing with them, they play extremely hard, way harder than we've played. Like way harder." Calipari made that comment after his team defeated Belmont last weekend.

Junior Jarrod Polson is a part of the game for the fourth straight year, he's hopeful that's not true. "Well that's what Cal says. I hope we will play harder, that's our goal."

Freshman Julius Randle will be playing in a UK-UofL game for the first time. He didn't seem to agree either. "I guess we'll just have to see." said Randle.

Louisivllle's only loss of the season came in the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament to North Carolina. The Cardinals are ranked No. 6 in the country. With a record of 9-3, Kentucky is No.18. "They know how hard to play, they're not rattled late, all the things that this team's (UK) still learning about." said Calipari. "Three games we lose, with three minutes to go it's a one point game. And we don't win any of them and not only don't win any of them, almost lose double digits in each of them. Calipari said his team just has to get better. "We have a lot of learning to do and that's the next one."

Kentucky and Louisville will tip at 4:00 p.m. on WKYT. A one hour pregame special will begin at Noon.
