LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari wants his team to get more easy baskets, that means scoring in transition.
Freshman guard Dominique Hawkins said transition is the first thing the WIldcats work on in practice. "Because he knows we've got talented players who can score the ball and push the ball fast." said Hawkins. "Everybody on the team has got speed, plus if we miss the layup and anything like that, we've got bigs who can come and put it back in."
Earlier this week, Calipari said hes told his players to run blind. "I think coach Cal would like that to be half the game... transition buckets." said sophomore Willie Cauley-Stein. "You know those are the easy buckets you don't have to worry about running a set in the half court. At least 20 points should be transition buckets. And then transition defense is big, especially in this league."
Kentucky plays its first SEC road game Saturday at Vanderbilt. Tipoff will be at 3:30 p.m. on WKYT with Game Time WIldcat Warm-up beginning at 2:30 p.m.
