Calipari appears on new SEC Network

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) The new SEC Network made its debut Thursday night and UK coach John Calipari appeared in a live interview from the Bahamas.

Calipari stood with four of his returning players, Alex Poythress, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Aaron and Andrew Harrison.

Calipari joked, "These four, I finally had someone come back to school, it's incredible. I thought they all hated me, everybody wants to leave. As a staff, I needed to learn about them, look at some combinations."

With three games down and three games to go, Calipari said the trip has been a win-win situation and his players are having fun. So far he's used a two platoon system.

"The players just stayed with great energy throughout. We wanted them to have fun and walk away with this a closer team. We never talked about winning, and how many, and I'll be honest, I have not looked at a stat. I know they're all playing 20 miniutes a game, but short of that, I have not looked at a stat."

The Wildcats' stiffest test yet comes up Friday when they play the national team of the Dominican Republic. Tipoff will be at 1:00 p.m. on the SEC Network.
