Calipari upbeat, Tennessee next

LEXINGTON, KY. (WKYT) - Kentucky coach John Calipari remained upbeat Monday, preparing his team to face Tennessee Tuesday night in Rupp Arena. Calipari said his team will have to get it right. "Again, my vision is there's no one late in the season is going to want to play this team, if we get it right. But right now it appears everybody wants to play this team." The Cats dropped their first SEC game to Texas A&M Saturday, 83-71.

Calipari said his players must "buy in" to his philosophy of being successful through commitment, hustle and trust. "The only way you can realy trust each other is you know what everybody is doing. I'm on the basketball court and I know what the other four guys are doing because they've bought into how we're playing as a team. And those are the kind of breakdowns that we're having, especially on these runs."

Freshman Willie Cauley-Stein said the Cats have not changed yet and that's the big emphasis. "Like we're a little late on the change. I mean he (Calipari) says hes been doing it for a long time and he sees it all the time, so."

Calipari is not upset. He said he talked to his players Sunday, asking them if they have ever played better or harder. They all said this was the best and the hardest they've played by far. Calipari knows he's asking for more. "And we're all saying 'it ain't enough'. In their minds they're saying, ' I've never played harder than this and this dude wants more.'"

Tipoff for UK-Tennessee will be at 7:oo p.m. Tuesday. The game will be televised by ESPN.
