Cats vs. Spartans Tuesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - No. 1 Kentucky and No. 2 Michigan State hook up in the State Farm Champions Classic in Chicago Tuesday night. John Calipari is expecting his young talented team to be tested.

Calipari said Monday he expects to learn a lot . "That's why you play the games, so you can figure out where you need to go with your team."

Calipari liked what he saw Kentucky won easily over UNC Asheville and Northern Kentucky. Michigan State will now be a major test. "Get your team right, keep learning about your team and we'll see after the game. Like I said, I'm encouraged by how we are but I don't know how that will play out versus a team like Michigan State."

The Cats have not played the Spartans since the 2005 NCAA tournament when Michgan State won in overtime to go to the Final Four.

Tipoff will be at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. Duke and Kansas will play the second game in the United Center.
