Could it get down and dirty with UofL?

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Emotions always run high when Kentucky and Louisville meet on the court. Physical play is expected and UK freshman Dominique Hawkins said Friday, it could even get dirty.

"I expect it to be a battle." saidHawkins. "Everbody's going to be trying to play hard for the loose balls. Probably even dirty play just to get the loose balls and stuff like that, so it's going to be exciting."

In January 2010, John Calipari's first year, DeMarcus Cousins and Jared Swopshire scuffled in the early going. No one was ejected from the game. John Calipari acknowledged that intensity and emotion are a factor. "That's an issue that both teams will have. So we'll deal with it when the game starts."

Hawkins has never played in a UK-UofL game but growing up in Kentucky he knows what the rivalry is like. He says his team won't back off. "I believe this team could get dirty though. We don't want to play dirty but if we have to and they doing that stuff to us, we're not going to back down from it."

Tipoff will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday on WKYT. A special one hour pregame will begin at Noon.
