Cowgill traded to New York

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Kentucky outfielder Collin Cowgill has been traded. The Oakland A's traded Cowgill to the New York Mets, in exchange for third baseman Jefry Marte.

Cowgill, 26, hit .269 in 38 games for Oakland last season. He played in 36 games for Arizona in 2011.

The former Henry Clay standout is a career .255 hitter in 216 big league plate appearances. He's hit two home runs.
