ATLANTA (AP) - Bill Curry's football life is almost over. Thursday, the former UK coach guided Georgia State through its last practice of the season. On Saturday, he'll coach the final game of his career when the Panthers take on Maine.

Curry has spent the past three years building a new program in Atlanta, the concluding chapter of career spanning more than a half-century of playing and coaching. The Panthers have struggled to a 1-9 record, which isn't the way he wanted to go out. He calls it "embarrassing." He regrets not having a chance to finish the job.

Still, the 70-year-old Curry has plenty of good memories. After his final practice, the players lifted him off the field, giving him that sensation of a coach being carried away in triumph one last time.
