GEORGETOWN - Georgetown College men's basketball rebounded from Thursday's loss with a big win on Senior Day Saturday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. The No. 16 Tigers (20-8, 11-6) sent out Montavious Marc, Monty Wilson, Russ Middleton, Branden Burdette and Anthony Adkins with an 81-59 win.
Jaylen Daniel was impressive off the bench with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including 2-of-2 from three-point range. The junior also went 6-of-6 from the foul line.
GC struggled early to pull away from the feisty Bulldogs (12-13, 4-12) as 10 turnovers kept Cumberland University in the game. However, the Tigers took care of the basketball and started to shoot better, pulling ahead quickly. Wilson finished up in front of the home crowd with a double-double, 13 points and 11 rebounds. Middleton was the final Tiger in double figures with 10. He also grabbed six rebounds, as GC won the war of the boards – 44-20.
Noah Cottrill had nine points, Corey Washburn nine, Deondre McWhorter eight, DJ Townsend four, Marc two and Branden Burdette two. Every Tiger that played scored.
Kenneth Stripling was the lone CU player in double figures with 12.
Georgetown returns to action 8 pm Thursday to finish regular season action at University of the Cumberlands.
