Davis & Rivers start work in New Orleans

Updated: Fri 8:55 PM, Jun 29, 2012

Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers are already getting to work on the Hornets' rebuilding project.

The two 19-year-old first-round draft picks began their first full day as pros together on team owner Tom Benson's private plane, flying from New Jersey to New Orleans. Their plan is to remain in New Orleans and work out together at the Hornets' training center until Davis, the top pick in Thursday night's draft, has to leave for Team USA tryouts on July 5.

Rivers, picked 10th overall, will then get ready for Las Vegas summer league.

Davis says he's happy to have the draft behind him and to focus on becoming a top NBA big man. Rivers, the son of Boston coach Doc Rivers, says he's motivated to earn his time on NBA courts.
