RICHMOND, Ky. - Daniel Norl has signed a National Letter of Intent to play college basketball at Eastern Kentucky University, head coach Jeff Neubauer announced today.
Norl is a 6-foot-2 guard from Clarksville, Tenn., where he plays for coach John Stigall at Kenwood High School.
"We are extremely pleased that Daniel has decided to become an EKU Colonel," Neubauer said. "Daniel is an outstanding young man who is a super teammate. He is a strong guard who shoots the ball with deep range and he has been very well coached."
In his first game as a senior on Tuesday, Norl scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out six assists.
As a junior in 2012-13 Norl scored 1,010 points, an average of 18.8 per game. He shot 48 percent from the field, 46 percent from three-point range and 82 percent from the free throw line. He was named all-district and all-area as a sophomore and a junior. He garnered area player of the Year honors after last season.
Norl helped Kenwood High set school records for wins as a sophomore and a junior, and led the team to its first-ever regular season district championship.
He played for the D13 Elite AAU program under coach Dominique Redding.
The Colonels will be back in action on Saturday when High Point University visits McBrayer Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
