EKU's Fox named OVC Defensive Player of Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Defensive back Brooklyn Fox was named the adidas OVC Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Eastern Kentucky University football team’s 31-7 win at Southeast Missouri on Saturday.

Fox produced two turnovers that led to 10 points in EKU’s decisive victory. On Southeast Missouri’s opening possession, Fox intercepted a pass and returned the ball 59 yards to set up a Colonel touchdown. In the second quarter, the senior from Tulsa, Okla., recovered a fumble at the Southeast Missouri 29-yard line which eventually led to an EKU field goal to make the score, 10-0.

Overall, Fox was part of a defensive unit that held Southeast to its lowest point total of the season (seven) and held its leading rusher, Levi Terrell, to a season-low 57 rushing yards.

Fox has six interceptions this season, which is the second most by any player at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level. This was also the second time this year he was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 2).

The other weekly award winners were UT Martin quarterback Derek Carr (Offensive), Murray State punter Steven Mix (Specialist) and Murray State running back Jaamal Berry (Newcomer).

No. 23 Eastern Kentucky (7-3, 5-2 OVC) will celebrate Senior Day next weekend in the regular season finale when the Colonels host Murray State. Kick-off on Saturday, Nov. 10 is set for 1 p.m.
