RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University’s Travis Rose earned a spot in the field for the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship by finishing second on Monday at the U.S. Amateur sectional qualifying event at the Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
With a field of 312 competitors the U.S. Amateur will be held August 11-17 at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Rose shot rounds of 72 and 67 in the 36-hole qualifier. He finished with a total of 139, three shots under par and four shots behind the medalist. He had five birdies and eight pars on the first 18 holes. He had an eagle with three birdies and 13 pars for a 4-under in round two.
Rose, a native of Lexington, Kentucky will be a sophomore at EKU in 2014-15.
